Area Christmas Events and Programs

I have, again,  put this year's Christmas activities on the website. It has grown to almost 50 pages, and made for a long email.

The Christmas activities are grouped by activity type, such as nativities and reenactments, performances, such as theatre and concert venues, light displays, caroling events, ongoing holiday programs, festivals, Santa programs…

Please double check with venue for correct time and place.    The information provided below is from a number of sources and we recommend that you call and confirm dates, times, and costs.    I just "copy and paste"  but sometimes there are errors or corrections I miss.  Many require reservations and have a fee for the event.

If you know of any other Christmas programs that have not been included, please send them to us and we will pass them along. If you find any errors, please let me know as well.

Have a safe and blessed Christmas season,

Laura Kostial

Created by Deborah Craig-Claar & Robert Sterling,  Arranged & Orchestrated by Robert Sterling
Featuring a full cast with choir, this musical comedy is a Norman Rockwell painting come to life! Remembering the days when The Saturday Evening Post found its way into American homes and hearts, this Broadway style musical is fast and fun, yet offers a clear message of the true meaning of Christmas in its entertaining dialogue and drama. The Christmas Post takes the audience into a world of ordinary Americans who, just like people today, need to rediscover their faith in Jesus and be reminded of what Christmas is really all about.
Synopsis of the play:

It’s early on Christmas Eve, 1947, in mythical Homesboro, Indiana. Hattie McGee’s newsies are hawking the morning edition of The Christmas Post and Hertzog’s Department Store is about to open. Maxine Seldon, sales manager, is bracing for her biggest sales day ever. Elliot Herzog, Jr., owner of Herzog’s, can smell money in the air. Brother Sam and his carolers from the tiny Central Avenue Church are hoping for enough donations to keep their soup kitchen open. And Alice Garfield is on a collision course with a disaster. A young WWII widow whose faith and pocketbook are both stretched to the limit, Alice is desperately trying to find “a little more Christmas” as a commission salesperson at Herzog’s this Christmas season. (Unbeknownst to Alice, her daughter, Katie, is secretly attempting to find “a little more Christmas” for her mother by working in disguise as one of Hattie’s newsies.) However, as the day goes on, Alice finds herself short of the funds needed for that one special present for each of her two children.

Then in a good-hearted attempt to help a late-arriving customer, Alice re-opens the store - only to have an uncontrollable mob of shoppers suddenly and disastrously descend on her from everywhere. When the dust settles, Alice has lost her job, all of her Christmas earning and is struggling with the last bit of faith she has left. But a last minute “miracle” helps Alice recognize that she has been focusing on her problems instead of God’s promises. As the last strains of music close the show, Alice rediscovers that faith in Jesus is the true key to believing in Christmas and to finding happiness in life.

Santa's Magical Kingdom

For Homeschoolers - special discount

Santa's Magical Kingdom wants to give homeschoolers a discount.  Connie, from SMK, writes....

We are gearing up for Christmas at Santa's Magical Kindom.  I would like to invite your home school families to our park this year for a family Old Fashion Wagon ride.  It's a great way to view the beautiful lights and get ready for the holidays.  It's also a time to have fun with friends and family.

It can be any date Mon-Thurs. and rides start 6 pm and go every 1/2 hour.  I can do Sun. 11/28 or 12/5.  Each family will call to make their reservation.  It's a very simple process.

The cost is $8 per person, children 2 and under are free. That is a $4 discount from our normal cost of $12 per person.  It's a huge value.  We provide blankets to keep you cozy.  The panoramic view is amazing.  The open wagon sits high off the ground too with rails to keep you safe.  We also have Santa Claus here to get the goodie list and pictures.  The value on our pictures is fabulous.  It's only $14.99 and you can make copies too.  We have a large general store for holiday shopping.  There are also goodies and hot drinks.

We hope to see your school this year.  Just give me your date and time.
Happy Holidays,
Connie Jacobs
